So we made some serious progress today, and the record is almost completely finished. Todd called me to tell me that the bass is way too loud now, which I can’t confirm yet but he very well may be right, but other than that I think we might be done. I’m thinking that next weekend we’ll be able to put the last nail in this coffin and move on to the next project. Fucking finally!

Thursday, July 19th at The Note
1516 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, Illinois 60622
8:00pm, some dollars

with:
RWAKE
THE MUZZLER
ANGEL EYES
BLACK SEPTEMBER

We’re making a huge exception to our “no weeknight shows” rule so we can play with Rwake and The Muzzler. It should be fucking awesome. Also, for what it’s worth, we should have our new cds ready for this show, so I guess you can call it our record release show.

Unrelatedly, I ate way too much pizza for dinner. Ugh.

EDIT: Added Black September.

Recording update: Vocals Finished!!!

So we finished vocals today, and Nader redid the organ parts. We might have one more thing to record and then we’re on to mixing. I didn’t take a picture of Nader doing the organ stuff because our friend Rehal stopped by, and nobody bothered taking a picture of me, but here’s a picture of Brendan:

Brendan screaming.

And here’s one I took of Todd and Mark in the control room last week:

Todd and Mark.

We’ll decide this week if we’re finished recording yet. At least the end is finally in sight!

Recording update: Almost done!!!

We finished Todd’s vocals last weekend. They’re a lot different than they have been in the past. He’s still not sure about the new (and way more brutal) style, but the rest of us think he fucking knocked it out of the park. Our friends in the band Bear Dog didn’t recognize him when they heard it.

Today, Brendan is up and maybe me if my throat holds up. I don’t know if I’m sick or my allergies are acting up, but I had a seriously sore throat last night and I’m sort of just waiting for the other shoe to drop this morning. I can feel the fucking torrent of snot draining down the back of my throat.

We also might redo the organ shit we recorded, but I haven’t decided. Some extreme EQ might save it.

Anyways, it’s time to start getting ready to leave. I’ll try to post some more pictures while we’re there.

Don’t fuck up the rotation.

Gas prices: What the fuck?

Seriously? What the fuck? Did they think that no one would notice that prices dropped over a dollar right before last year’s elections and have been slowly but steadily rising since 2007 started? Over the course of five days this week, the price for basic unleaded went up 27 fucking cents at a local gas station. I paid $3.27/gallon today. That’s obscene. And while we’re being fucking fleeced at the pump, these fuckers who run the oil companies are bragging about taking in record profits. What are working families supposed to do? It’s not like I can just not go to work.

It’s a fucking shame that our government is in bed with big oil. When your population consumes more oil than any other country in the world by a significant margin and shoulder the biggest responsibility for laying absolute fucking waste to the planet, you’d think you’d want to, you know, do something about it. Like maybe saying that every car built after, say, 2010 needs to be a hybrid. Or institute some form of price controls to keep these fucking assholes from driving this country to the poorhouse.

I don’t know. It’s just a thought. All I know is that over the past month gasoline has gone up over a fucking dollar a gallon in our area. My car holds 13 gallons of gas. That’s an extra $13 everytime I fill it up. I fill it up twice a week. That’s $26. Multiply that by four, and that’s an extra $104 a month. On gas.

I feel sick just typing that.
