So we watched Death Proof last night, and I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed by a movie in my entire life. The movie I signed up to watch was about Kurt Russell killing people with a muscle car. The movie Quentin Tarantino gave me had two segments that contained almost nothing but women chewing on Quentin Tarantino dialogue. Before actually sitting through the movie disabused me of this, I told my wife that if I had ovaries merely watching a movie about Kurt Russell killing people with a muscle car might be enough to make me pregnant. Instead what I watched repeatedly kicked me in the nuts so hard that it probably made me sterile.

We’ve been going through some changes in our house (Daylight Saving ending, which I guess is the same for everyone, along with a new job and some traveling for me), and as a result my sleeping schedule is totally fucked up. Last night I passed out at 9; today it’s almost midnight and I’m wide awake when I should be in bed. Bogus.
Heard from Vinci the other day. The split with AFBTC is at the press and the covers went to the printer yesterday. They look pretty fucking killer. We’re extremely excited. Hopefully we’ll have some in the next few weeks.
Writing continues for a new full length. We’re kind of in deep and we’re around the halfway mark. We’ve been extremely productive (by our standards, at any rate) lately, which is encouraging.

Thanks to everyone for coming out last night. Thanks to Durkin for asking us to play and the People Projects for letting us. Locrian and (Lone) Wolf and Cub were fantastic; unfortunately I wasn’t feeling well so we had to bail before HWC played, so apologies to them for taking off early.
As we were exhaustedly driving home at midnight, all I could think was that in exactly one week from now (now being midnight), we were going to be getting ready to play at Underground Lounge. Ugh. I always forget how awesome shows that start at normal times are.

We started writing for the next record today. It’s exciting for us because we haven’t worked on anything new in probably six months or so. We’re trying out a completely different approach to anything we’ve ever tried before, so I guess we’ll see what happens. I’m pretty pumped, though.
In between starting this post and finishing it, we went out to get barbecue at a new place called Hopper’s that’s at the ass end of Saint Charles. I had an amazing brisket sandwich and the ribs were pretty great, too.

It was brought to our attention that there’s a big picture of us on the front of the Sunday Sun-Times music section. Well, there’s a big picture of Nader and Brendan with some of our friends looking bored in the front row (caption: “Angel Eyes revs up the crowd at Reggie’s,” or something to that effect). It’s actually a pretty sweet picture, and the layout looks really nice.
There’s another picture of Brendan and his beard doubling as audience members on the inside of the story. Our friend Gajus is standing next to him holding up a lighter, which should have been a red flag for whoever picked that photo to not use it. I mean, seriously. A lighter?
Oh yeah, the article is about new venues in Chicago, specifically Reggie’s and the Bottom Lounge, only the Bottom Lounge isn’t really new, just reopening after a hiatus. It makes local clubs seem pretty cut throat!
FIRST: Today is Nader’s birthday. It is the eighth time in his life that he’s able to celebrate his birthday on his actual birth date. Happy 8th birthday, Nader!
NEXT: Our site seems to be compromised. Todd’s post about whatever pictures keeps getting the comments turned off and some spammy links are being hidden in the code (my favorite: Fat Men Masturbating). We’ll see what happens with this post. I’ll hit up the WordPress forums later to see how the fuck that could even happen.
SPLIT UPDATE: I think we’re totally done with our side of the split. I don’t know if we mentioned that earlier, but I do know that I’m too lazy to check. We’re waiting on AFBTC to finish their stuff (which we’ve heard and it’s awesome) so we can master it and send it off to be pressed. Get Stoked Records are doing a domestic pressing here in the States. More updates on that when we have them.
ALSO: Unfortunately, Across Tundras had to drop off the show at the Guesthouse on March 22nd. Todd said they had some bass player trouble? I don’t know. I do know that bass players are trouble, however. We’ll see if they get replaced on the bill. It’s a real bummer, I really like that band a lot and was excited to see them.
CONFUSION: I’m not really sure what we’re working on next. Maybe a full-length, maybe something smaller. There are a couple of ideas on the table right now. We’ll be figuring that out in the near future.
